Fall NEARC 2022

We are four-person GIS team at the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game, helping over 350 people in our agencies with geodata needs. Because our team is small, we work to empower agency staff—no matter their skill level—to take ownership in their data and visualizations whenever possible. Our BioMap group is but one example. BioMap is a complex series of map layers depicting areas within Massachusetts that contain important natural landscapes and species. It serves as a framework to strategically guide the preservation of biodiversity within the Commonwealth. During this presentation, we’ll walk through the steps we’ve taken to empower this group to not only build an interactive map but create content through StoryMaps and Hub to tell its story to a variety of audiences.
